Location: Kalamazoo, Michigan
Wage: $15.00 per hour

About the RoleThe Visitation Coach provides individualized, strengths-based coaching to parents whose children have been removed from the home. This position focuses on supporting parents in developing and improving parenting skills while ensuring safe, structured, and supportive family visitation experiences.
Core ResponsibilitiesFamily Coaching and Support
- Use a strengths-based approach to coach parents on parenting skills through modeling, instruction, and feedback
- Help parents identify goals for visitation and track progress over time
- Reinforce parental strengths and encourage positive interactions
Visitation Supervision and Safety
- Supervise parent-child visits in homes, offices, or community settings
- Ensure the safety and well-being of children at all times
- Intervene as needed to maintain appropriate behavior and safe interactions
Observation and Documentation
- Observe and document parent-child interactions in detail
- Report strengths, concerns, and progress to the assigned social worker
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation in compliance with program requirements
Transportation and Support Services
- Transport foster children to and from visitation appointments
- Provide additional support services in alignment with foster care program requirements
Education
- Associate’s degree in human services or a related field required
- High School Diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 2 years of experience in a human services setting
Experience
- Knowledge of child development required
- At least 1 year of experience in a daycare or school setting strongly preferred
Skills and Knowledge
- Strong interpersonal and coaching skills
- Ability to work with families in sensitive and emotional situations
- Understanding of child welfare and family dynamics
- Strong observation and documentation skills
- Ability to maintain professionalism and boundaries
- Valid, unrestricted driver’s license with a good driving record
- Reliable personal transportation and proof of automobile insurance in your name
- Safe and clean vehicle suitable for transporting children
- Ability to work a flexible and nontraditional schedule, including evenings as needed
