Product Development Engineer – Software

Location:

Troy, MI, USA. Position is onsite.

• Hands‑on development of SEF Automated Fastening Systems codebase, ensuring reliability, maintainability and performance.
• Gain expertise in SEF product lines:
  Stud Welding, Self‑Pierce Riveting, Automated Blind Fastening.
• Build prototype systems and perform real‑world testing and fastening operations.
• Collaborate with Product Management and Sales to define, design, and implement new software features addressing customer needs.
• Assist Plant Operations and Technical Field Services by troubleshooting software and electrical system issues.
• Write comprehensive test plans and perform validation testing to guarantee system quality and compliance.
• Collaborate with global team members in other regions and product lines.
• Analyze large datasets to uncover trends and actionable insights from machine measurement and process logs.

• Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
• 2–3 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong object‑oriented programming skills in managed and unmanaged languages (C#, C++,
  
  C) and experience programming embedded systems in Linux environments.
• Ability and willingness to adapt to various programming domains, including full‑stack web application development.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and hands‑on experience troubleshooting hardware (multimeters, oscilloscopes, JTAG, serial debuggers).
• Background in industrial automation, mechatronics, and familiarity with industrial networks such as Device Net, Ether Net/IP or Profinet is a plus.
