Summary
:
Responsible for the efficient transportation of products to and from customers in a manner and condition that meets customer and company requirements. The driver is also responsible for the timely reporting of equipment defects, vehicle accidents, delays, overages, shortages, and damages.
Transport and deliver goods by the schedule as determined by the Transportation Supervisor. Drop trailers as directed or assist in unloading freight as required.
QualityVerify the count and condition of goods loaded and unloaded. Make reports of overages, shortages, and damage as needed.
DrivingOperate the truck/trailer units safely. Report any vehicle defects to the Maintenance Department. Comply with all Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). OSHA regulations, Wagner Safety Rules, and federal, state, and local laws. Maintain a good driving record.
RelationshipsEnsure good customer relations by consistently delivering orders on time and acting courteously and professionally.
What You Need- Education: High school Diploma or GED (preferred).
- Experience: Minimum 3 years in a similar position.
- Knowledge/Experience/
Skills:
Valid CDL Class A, skill in operating different types of trucks, DOT Physical Certification, yearly physical. Must pass pre-employment tests, drug tests, background checks; clean driving record with no moving violations. - Special Requirements: Ability to read/write/understand basic English. Basic math, counting, computer abilities. Strong communication, leadership, professional skills to promote teamwork with warehouse and transportation staff. Demonstrate initiative, self-starter, reliability, teamwork. Familiar with Microsoft Office. Innate sense of direction. Ability to stay alert and focused while transporting loads.
- Ability to stand, sit, squat, crawl, bend, twist, and/or kneel for up to 12‑hour periods and repetitively.
- Work near or on top of sloping, uneven, and/or slippery surfaces.
- Exposure to varying temperatures: heat, cold, wet, damp, drafty.
- Possible exposure to high noise levels that may require hearing protection.
- Use hands and fingers to grasp, turn, and manipulate objects of varying sizes and weights.
- Utilize muscles to lift, push, pull, or carry heavy objects.
