Job Description

ELIGIBILITY:
Students must be Work Study Eligible (as determined by Financial Aid)

LENGTH OF EMPLOYMENT:
Academic Calendar Year 2026/2027

WORK SCHEDULE:
Flexible schedule between Monday and Friday, 8 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; occasional evenings and weekends. Works up to 19 hours per week.

DRESS CODE:
Business casual with appropriate coverage

POSITION PURPOSE/ROLE
Under the supervision of the Student Engagement Coordinator

POSITION DUTIES

  • Perform customer service by greeting students, employees, and guests
  • Staff the front desk in the student lounge
  • Assist with planning, promoting, and implementing activities and events
  • Assist with student organization trainings and workshops
  • Create flyers and other promotional materials using Canva.
  • Help develop and maintain the student engagement platform - FVCC Connect
  • May perform other duties as requested.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Basic office and technology skills, and a willingness to learn new programs
  • Ability to work independently or as a team player
  • Ability to work with students, staff, faculty, and community partners
  • Willingness to try new things

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous experience with event planning
  • Previous experience with social media

STUDENT SKILL DEVELOPMENT:
Communication, critical and reflective thinking, customer service, leadership, professionalism, teamwork

PREDICTED OUTCOME:
Practical competence, critical thinking, collaboration, communicating effectively, technological competence, demonstrating professionalism, and teamwork

STUDENT EMPLOYMENT GUIDELINES:

  • Students must be enrolled in a minimum of six (6) credits for fall or spring semester to qualify for student employment.
  • Students may not work beyond 19 hours per week during semester.
  • Student workers shall be actively engaged; no use of cell phones (except in case of emergency) or social media.
  • Student workers shall demonstrate a commitment to the job with adherence to work schedule, effective communication/interpersonal skills, and quality customer service skills to be a representative of FVCC.
