Job Description
Minimum 1+ years special education experience required.
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Special Education Teacher to join our team near Lewistown, Montana. This role is focused on supporting high school students with diverse learning needs. The ideal candidate will be passionate about fostering an inclusive learning environment and committed to helping students achieve their academic and personal goals.
Key Responsibilities- Instruction & Support: Provide individualized and small-group instruction to high school students with special needs, tailored to their specific learning requirements and goals.
- Reinforcement: Assist students during study halls and other academic periods to reinforce classroom learning and provide additional support as needed.
- Compliance: Ensure all required paperwork, including Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), progress reports, and assessments, are completed accurately and in a timely manner.
- Collaboration: Work closely with general education teachers, school counselors, and parents to develop and implement effective educational strategies and interventions.
- Behavior Management: Implement and monitor behavioral interventions and supports to promote a positive and productive learning environment.
- Professional Development: Stay current with special education best practices, educational technologies, and relevant regulations.
- Certification: A valid Montana teaching license with an endorsement in Special Education is required.
- Education: A Bachelors degree in Special Education or a related field is required. A Masters degree is preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience working with high school students in a special education setting is preferred but not mandatory.
- Skills: Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage diverse classroom environments and adapt instruction to meet individual needs.
- Compliance Knowledge: Familiarity with IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act) and Montana state special education regulations.
- Technology Proficiency: Comfortable using educational technology and software to support instruction and documentation.
- Standard workweek is Monday through Thursday.
- Occasional work on Fridays may be required based on school needs and administrative duties.
