Job Description

The Solutions Developer Lead is a member of the Information Technology, Glacier Solutions Development ("GSD") team. This position will report to the GSD Development Manager and is responsible for leading technical implementation of strategic projects to enhance the bank's commercial lending services platforms and applications. The role requires focused product knowledge of banking system management/development and strong technical expertise to deliver solutions for the commercial lending platform, currently nCino, while applying technical knowledge and platform capabilities to support business requirements.

This individual works closely with Product and Channel Managers, Solutions Architects, support teams, and technology colleagues to elicit, capture, and translate business requirements and architectural design into technical requirements that can be conveyed with the appropriate level of detail to the development team. The Lead Developer steers continuous improvement, enhancement, and technical integration, aligns technical solutions with organizational strategy and functional architecture, and collaborates with functional leaders, Solutions Architects, and key vendors to develop solutions that meet strategic business needs.

The role also involves guiding, mentoring, and supporting the development team to ensure projects are completed efficiently and effectively.

In addition to technical responsibilities, the Lead Developer evaluates team capacity, commits to delivery timelines, submits change requests, monitors vendor ticketing updates, and takes on the most challenging development items. Technical oversight is another key aspect of the role; they ensure software quality standards are met and provide technical guidance to the team, including identifying and addressing technical issues and improvement opportunities.

Strong problem‑solving and communication skills are essential.

This role is highly visible, with the ability to directly impact the organization and its customers. The successful candidate must have experience with banking systems development, including nCino and commercial lending processes, possess a continuous‑improvement mindset, and have outstanding written and verbal communication skills.

This corporate position may be located at an available bank division location across our nine‑state footprint in AZ, CO, , MT, NV, TX, UT, WA, or WY. The entry rate for this position is $ per year (calculated for Kalispell, MT). All compensation offers are analyzed individually and take into consideration geographic location, years of experience, and educational background.

Responsibilities
  • In collaboration with the project team plan, coordinate the implementation of enhancements to the commercial lending platforms, currently nCino.
  • Participate in discovery and refinement with the project team to advise on technical feasibility of proposed business requirement solutions.
  • Own all technical aspects, including custom code, configuration, development, IT change management, addressing information security concerns, vendor communication, and migration implementation/planning for both GBCI and vendor teams.
  • Support junior developers by providing guidance, code reviews, and training; break down project work into smaller tasks and assign them based on skills and availability.
  • Review releases, tasks, code, and requirements to ensure quality, consistency, and adherence to best practices.
  • Independently complete complex and business‑critical technical development tasks.
  • Establish technical expertise and teach the business domain, data model, and design of the code base for the product to other development and support staff.
  • Provide detailed level‑of‑effort estimates for proposed solutions and articulate benefits and risks to a solution’s feasibility and functionality.
  • Serve as decision maker among the development team when differences of opinion arise in technical implementation.
