Job Title: SRE Observability Architect

Location: Hartford, CT (Remote)

Position Type: Contract position

Job Description:

• 10+ years of experience in IT operations, SRE, or observability roles defining and implementing end-to-end observability architecture spanning infrastructure, applications, APIs, and databases.
• Hands-on experience with Dynatrace (One Agent, Active Gate, Davis AI).
• Experience with Splunk, including ITSI, advanced SPL queries, dashboard, glass tables, KPIs, and predictive analytics.
• Experience monitoring AWS workloads (EC2, ECS, EKS, RDS) using Dynatrace.
• Proficient in designing and implementing custom dashboards, alerts, and synthetic tests in Dynatrace.
• Experienced in leveraging Dynatrace Davis AI for automated anomaly detection and root cause analysis.
• Implemented Observability-as-Code (OaC) using the Dynatrace Terraform provider to automate dashboard creation, alerting, and configuration management.
• Designed and implemented API Gateway observability (e.g., IBM APIC, Mule Soft, AWS API Gateway, Kong, NGINX), capturing metrics like request latency, error rates, and throughput.
• Hands-on experience monitoring database performance (Oracle, SQL Server, Postgre
  
  SQL, AWS RDS) with metrics such as query latency, connection pool usage, and resource utilization.
• Experienced with trace propagation across API calls, database transactions, and service interactions.
• Hands-on experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles for automated observability resource provisioning.
• Experienced in developing and maintain reusable Terraform modules for Dynatrace monitoring configurations.
• Proficiency in automated deployment of dashboards, alerting policies, and management zones.
• Experienced in designing and maintain observability pipelines for logs, metrics, and traces across hybrid and multi-cloud environments.
• Skilled in establishing best practices for distributed tracing, golden signals, and SLO-driven monitoring.

Soft Skills:

• Collaborate with SRE, Dev Ops, and application teams to implement consistent observability practices.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring on observability patterns and tools.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a data-driven mindset.

MUST HAVES:

• Dynatrace Expertise:
  Hands-on with One Agent, Active Gate, Davis AI, custom dashboards, and anomaly detection.
• Observability and Monitoring:
  End-to-end architecture, AWS monitoring, distributed tracing, and SLO-driven monitoring.
• Splunk Proficiency: ITSI, SPL queries, dashboards, KPIs, and predictive analytics.
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC):
  Terraform, reusable modules, and Observability-as-Code (OaC).
• API Gateway Observability:
  Metrics for IBM APIC, Mule Soft, AWS API Gateway, Kong, NGINX, and trace propagation.
