CNC Setup Machinist (Level
2)
Express Employment Professionals is hiring a CNC Setup Machinist (Level
2) for a reputable local manufacturing client. This role is ideal for experienced machinists who take pride in precision, quality, and maintaining high industry standards.
The Level 2 Setup Machinist is responsible for setting up CNC machines and ensuring all produced parts meet specifications according to engineering drawings and manufacturing inspection plans (MIP). This role plays a critical part in maintaining compliance, quality, and production efficiency.
Key Responsibilities- Set up parts and components on CNC machines per work orders and setup sheets
- Ensure parts meet compliance requirements based on drawings and MIP standards
- Verify and confirm first‑piece inspection before releasing parts to production
- Communicate effectively with “mirror” shift coworkers to ensure smooth transitions and consistent production quality
- Inspect parts using proper tools, methods, and protocols
- Accurately document inspection results on MIP forms
- Collaborate with:
Shop Floor Manager, Production Manager, Programmer, Compliance Specialist (as needed) - Tag and document nonconforming parts per AS9100 standards and procedures
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment: properly store tooling, clean machines and remove chips, wipe down equipment, sweep and mop floors
- Previous experience as a CNC Setup Machinist required
- Experience operating CNC lathe machines required
- Ability to set up jobs in compliance with drawings and MIP specifications
- Strong understanding of inspection processes and documentation
- Level 2 Inspection Training/Certification
- Proficiency with inspection tools and measuring equipment
- Knowledge of manufacturing inspection plans (MIPs)
- Familiarity with AS9100 standards and quality procedures
- Strong attention to detail and problem‑solving skills
- Ability to communicate clearly across shifts and departments
Ability to lift 50+ lbs. Ability to stand and work in a production environment for extended periods.
Compensation & SchedulePay: $30/hour
