Mobile Hope Market Coordinator

DEPARTMENT:

STATUS: REGULAR - PART TIME, NON-EXEMPT

SUPERVISOR: CORPS OFFICER – LT. SEAN PEASE

SCOPE OF POSITION:
The Mobile Hope Market Coordinator is responsible for the coordination and implementation of all Hope Market Programs associated with The Salvation Army in Kalispell, Montana.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate, facilitate and oversee food distributions and any other program/event associated with the Hope Market.
  • Drive Mobile Hope Market to and from distribution sites.
  • Clean, maintain, and stock Mobile Hope Market in preparation for distributions.
  • Check temperatures and equipment to ensure they are working properly, maintaining logs as needed.
  • Pick up donations from local grocery stores and food banks in coordination with the Custodian/Driver.
  • Weigh and log donations as required by funding agreements with support of the Corps Officer and/or Social Service Coordinator as appropriate.
  • Coordinate and train volunteers for Hope Market programing.
  • Ensure the health and safety of program participants while maintaining a clean and safe work area and following applicable Salvation Army Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP) policies and local, state and federal safety policies.
  • Prepare and set up communication with program participants, volunteers and co-workers.
  • Maintain all hope market records, tracking and paperwork (program registrations, distribution record, etc.) and work with the Social Service Coordinator to enter them into the digital database.
  • Ensure compliance with requirements for all funding sources is met with support of the Corps Officer and/or Social Service Coordinator as appropriate.
  • Report monthly and yearly stats to appropriate programs and agencies on time with support of Corps Officer and/or Social Service Coordinator as appropriate.
  • Attend staff meetings and trainings as required, including but not limited to Protecting the Mission – child safety training, and The Salvation Army fleet safety training.
  • Maintain professional appearance and adhere to employee dress codes at all times when working.
  • Shop for supplies as needed.
  • Assist with seasonal efforts, which may include but are not limited to:
    Christmas Intake/Distribution, Kettle fund-raising program drop off/pick up, counting, and data entry.
  • Assist with feeding program coverage when necessary (help cook and serve breakfast and/or lunch)
  • Other duties as assigned by Corps Officer(s).

EDUCATION AND

WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Previous customer service or social service work is beneficial
  • Previous Salvation Army work or volunteer experience is beneficial

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Must be up to date on all Salvation Army programs and able to promote them with members of the community.
  • Must have the ability to relate positively to people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Be flexible and open to new ideas, concepts, and ways of doing things while keeping pace with multiple priorities.
  • Have the ability to work well independently and in a detailed, professional and courteous manner.
  • Ability to use basic office equipment such as phone systems, printer and copier machines and a computer.
  • A valid and current State of Montana drivers' license.
  • Age 21 for driving responsibilities, and ability to pass a State of Montana motor vehicle check as well as complete The Salvation Army driving test.

SOFTWARE-RELATED

SKILLS:

  • Microsoft Office suite
  • Able to work with multiple social media platforms
  • Working knowledge of integrated database applications and ability to use new software programs with basic training.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis
  • Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead
