Position

Store Supervisor – Hourly, full‑time.

Reports to:

Store Manager and/or Assistant Store Manager.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise store associates, employees, trainees, volunteers, and auxiliary staff.
  • Train, evaluate, and conduct regular staff meetings.
  • Ensure staff safety orientation in accordance with the Employee Handbook.
  • Set and adjust pricing of merchandise based on community thrift stores.
  • Process daily sales income, including cash, charge, check, and voucher transactions; prepare daily sales reports, bank deposits, and cash/check donations.
  • Cover all store positions and assist during busy periods; manage shift coverage.
  • Oversee opening and closing procedures.
  • Arrange seasonal shopping and merchandise availability.
  • Maintain and refresh store displays and floor organization.
  • Apply markdown procedures and manage donated item pricing.
  • Maintain safety, cleanliness, and proper functioning of vehicles and restrooms.
  • Conduct monthly safety inspections and report deficiencies.
  • Order supplies as needed.
  • Provide courteous service to customers and manage customer complaints.
  • Attend all scheduled and mandatory staff meetings.
  • Perform additional tasks necessary for successful operation of the thrift store, production area, and fleet management.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of three years supervisory experience in a retail environment.
  • Knowledge of cash controls and cashier procedures.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Detail oriented, organized, and able to work in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Customer service mindset.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to Protecting the Mission requirements.
  • Valid in‑state driver’s license and ability to pass an in‑house driving test and MVR check.
  • Access to a personal vehicle (must have current auto insurance) if used for TSA time.
  • Ability to operate a cash register, telephone, desktop or laptop computer.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs. and perform physical tasks associated with store duties.
  • Must be able to operate a motor vehicle.
  • Availability to work the required hours and attend mandatory meetings.
Physical Requirements
  • Sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist intermittently or continuously.
  • Grasp, push, pull objects such as files and lift up to 35 lbs.
  • Operate cash register, telephone, and computer.
  • Access and produce information from a computer.
  • Understand and produce written information.
