About Highland Valley Copper

Highland Valley Copper (HVC) Operation sis Canada’s largest open-pit copper mine and molybdenum operation. HVC produces both copper and molybdenum concentrate through autogenous and semi-autogenous grinding and flotation.

Reporting to the General Supervisor, Asset Integrity, the Senior Engineer is responsible for leading the development and execution of HVC’s mobile and fixed plant asset management programs, ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards and regulatory requirements. This role ensures the program aligns with HVC’s safety, reliability, and business objectives. The Program must be in alignment with Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia (EGBC) and Code requirements, at a minimum.

The practices and strategies must focus on the health and safety along with environmental stewardship of the assets.

To be successful, we are looking for someone with previous technical and leadership experience focused on life cycle costing, reliability, and asset health strategies. Strong verbal and written communication, as well as excellent interpersonal, organization and problem‑solving abilities are required. A team‑oriented individual with a strong focus on safety, personal responsibility and integrity, and who is highly self‑motivated. The ability to maintain a positive and flexible attitude while working independently in a fast‑paced and dynamic environment is vital in this role.

This role includes significant interaction with various stakeholders across the mine site.

Key Responsibilities
  • Be a courageous safety leader and foster a culture of health and safety through Teck’s Life Saving Commitments
  • Ensuring compliance with Teck’s Health, Safety and Environmental Programs and the BC Mines Act
  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Highland Valley Copper's Asset Management Program, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and corporate objectives.
  • Develop and maintain lifecycle cost (LCC) models and asset strategies that optimize asset performance, reliability, risk, and total cost of ownership throughout the asset lifecycle.
  • Establish long‑term asset plans, including refurbishment, replacement, modernization, and end‑of‑life strategies for critical mobile and fixed assets.
  • Conduct asset health, risk, and economic analyses to support capital investment decisions and prioritize asset renewal initiatives.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate risks related to asset reliability, safety, environmental performance, and operational continuity.
  • Develop business cases and capital investment recommendations based on lifecycle cost analysis, risk assessments, and operational requirements.
  • Identify, scope, and support the delivery of capital projects that enhance asset performance, reliability, and long‑term value.
  • Provide asset management input into annual business planning, budgeting, forecasting, and long‑range asset investment strategies.
  • Support financial governance processes through accurate asset reporting, capital budget reconciliation, and compliance with internal controls.
