Salary Range: $18.25 – $23 per hour
Job Summary:
The Early Childhood Educator Assistant will aid the ECE & IT Educators. The Childcare Assistant will work closely with the Childcare Teacher in conducting daily duties such as preparing and serving meals, changing diapers, writing daily reports, recording attendance, engaging in play, assisting to put children to sleep, and creating a safe environment. The ECE Assistant reports to the Daycare Manager.
Key
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Valid and current Early Childhood Education Assistant Certificate
- Previous experience working in a First Nation Community would be an asset
- A clear criminal reference check and vulnerable search
- CPR and First Aid Certification
- Ability to obtain a doctor’s certificate ensuring health is adequate for the position
- Two letters of reference
- Up to date immunization
- Negative TB Test
- Valid Food Safe Certificate
- Monitoring and supervising the children constantly.
- Assisting the Childcare Teacher in maintaining a safe and positive environment.
- Cultivating relationships with children, parents, and guardians
- Follow licensing requirements
- Carry out the responsibilities assigned to you
- Attend regular staff meetings
- Maintain confidentiality of all information related to the center’s children, their parents, and staff
- Participate in the annual performance review process
- Contribute to an annual plan for the center
- Plan and carry out annual personal development
- Keep up to date with early childhood advocacy developments
- Maintain regular attendance and punctuality
- Actively participate in Switzmalph Child Care Centre staff activities whenever possible
- Maintain a positive working relationship with other Switzmalph Child Care Centre staff and others who work within the building
Required Qualifications:
- Grade 12 education or equivalent
- Minimum Early Childhood Certificate
- Infant/Toddler and Special Needs Certificates, an asset
- Current First Aid Certificate
- Satisfactory Criminal Records check
- Medical check
- Food Safe Certificate
- Previous experience with First Nations culture and traditions, as asset
- Diplomacy, tact and confidentiality in dealing with a variety of people and information
- Reliability and dependability
- Good interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a team orientated environment
- Flexibility is a must to adapt to changing work priorities
- Continuous learning
- Believes in and practices the mission, and goals of the program
- Ability to build trust and positive relationships with families in the program

- A high degree of personal initiative with good planning and organizational skills
- Continuing personal and professional development in related areas
- Ability to lift (up to 25 kg)
