Transdev Canada is seeking an experienced Safety & Training Manager to lead our health, safety, and training programs in Kamloops. This position combines strategic leadership with hands‑on operational support to ensure regulatory compliance, foster a proactive safety culture, and deliver effective employee training and development. The ideal candidate is a collaborative leader with strong OH&S expertise, excellent communication skills, and a passion for continuous improvement.

Role
  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of health, safety, and training programs that support a strong safety culture.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to managers and employees on occupational health and safety policies, procedures, and regulatory compliance.
  • Manage the Safety and Training team in a unionized environment.
  • Partner with operational leaders to identify safety risks, develop corrective actions, and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Act as the primary liaison with WorkSafeBC regarding claims management, policy interpretation, inspections, and compliance matters.
  • Manage WorkSafeBC claims and return‑to‑work programs, including modified duties and employee reintegration plans.
  • Conduct incident investigations, workplace inspections, hazard assessments, and root cause analyses while ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
  • Monitor and analyze safety performance using leading and lagging indicators and prepare internal and external safety reports.
  • Develop, coordinate, and deliver classroom, behind‑the‑wheel, remedial, refresher, and return‑to‑work training programs.
  • Maintain accurate training, licensing, and compliance records for all employees.
  • Develop and update training materials, operating procedures, and emergency response plans.
  • Support Joint Occupational Health & Safety Committees by providing safety data, recommendations, and follow‑up on corrective actions.
  • Lead safety meetings, promote employee engagement, and recognize safe work practices to strengthen the organization’s safety culture.

Your Profile
  • Post‑secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 7 years of progressive occupational health and safety experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of leadership or management experience.
  • Professional safety designation such as CRSP, CHSC, or CSO is considered an asset.
  • Experience working in a unionized environment is preferred.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s licence and ability to travel between worksites using a personal vehicle.
  • Thorough knowledge of the Workers Compensation Act, WorkSafeBC regulations, and occupational health and safety legislation.
  • Experience with incident investigations, WorkSafeBC claims management, return‑to‑work programs, and occupational health and safety management systems.
  • Proven ability to advise, coach, and influence managers, supervisors, employees, and Joint Occupational Health & Safety Committees.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to deliver training and presentations.
  • Demonstrated leadership, sound judgment, and the ability to maintain confidentiality while working in a fast‑paced environment.

This is a full‑time position.

There is a requirement to work standard business hours with occasional overtime as needed.
