The Job – Drywaller/Painter
Join On Side Restoration as a Drywaller/Painter and help rebuild homes and businesses after disaster strikes. You’ll repair and finish drywall, apply textures, and bring spaces to life with fresh paint.
What you bring as a Drywaller/Painter- 5+ years of drywall repair experience (cutting, mudding, sanding, taping, painting)
- Experience with restoration repairs (vs new or renovation)
- Level 5 drywall finishing technique
- Brush/roller/spray gun paint experience to finish the area for uniformity and completion
- Construction experience and tool proficiency: you have your own tools for the job
- Previous experience reading and executing work orders
- Leadership to guide helpers and train less experienced workers
- Physically fit: able to do heavy lifting (moving materials) and long periods of kneeling/bending/crouching/reaching
- Ability to work independently or in a team
- Tech‑savvy (comfortable using apps/software)
- Strong communication and people skills
- Detail‑oriented, quality‑driven, safety‑focused
- Valid driver’s licence and clean criminal record (we do check)
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and spoken
- Measure, cut, install, and repair damaged drywall
- Estimate the quantity of materials required by measuring surfaces, reviewing scopes, sketches and work orders
- Ceiling texture
- Tape, mud, sand, and texture surfaces
Prepare and protect work sites - Prepare surfaces and apply primers, paints, stains, or finishes
- Apply finishes that are sponged, ragged and layered
- Feathering/blending wall paint
- Stucco finishes/repairs
- Match colors and apply coatings using brushes, rollers, or spray guns
- Install wall coverings
- Drywall Finisher or Plasterer ticket
- WHMIS
- First Aid
Disasters can strike at any time so a rotating schedule of 24/7 after hours on‑call work is a requirement. Meaning you’ll work regular weekday hours and participate in a rotating after‑hours on‑call schedule.
