General Labourer
Location:
Kamloops, BC
Base Rate: $35.00 per hour
OT: 1.5x after 8 hours per day and 40 hours per week
Schedule:
5 days on and 2 days off, working 8-hour days
Shift Premium: $1.25 per hour night shift (if applicable)

Big Country Equipment is a BC-based heavy equipment repair and maintenance company that works with resource-based customers in the mining, construction, forestry, and oil and gas sectors across Canada. Founded in 2017, we have grown rapidly from a one-truck operation to a high-performing team of over 145 employees and a fleet of 40+ fully tooled service trucks. We are committed to taking care of customers throughout Canada, providing 24/7 service, 365 days a year.
This is a local, project-based position in Kamloops, BC, with an expected duration of 3 to 4 months. There is no guarantee the project will be extended. While this role is based in BC, Big Country supports multiple sites across Canada and primarily serves open-pit and underground mining and construction operations.
Duties And Responsibilities
Safely perform general labourer duties using hand tools while maintaining a clean and orderly work environment.
Assist skilled trades workers with equipment and task preparation.
Conduct general cleanup to maintain a safe and efficient worksite.
Collaborate with team members and assist with various tasks as required.
Wash equipment to ensure vehicles and machinery are clean and maintained.
Complete proper lockout procedures while working with machinery.
Complete assigned duties as instructed by the site superintendent or supervisor.
Requirements
Previous experience in mining, oil and gas, or construction environments is considered an asset
Familiarity with heavy equipment is considered an asset
Comfortably operating skid steers, forklifts, and telehandlers is considered an asset
Mechanically inclined is preferred
Must be comfortable working outdoors
Physical ability to lift and move materials up to 50 lbs
Strong oral and written English communication skills
Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to maintain orderly work spaces
Commitment to following all safety protocols and guidelines
Willingness to work overtime if it falls on your rotation
All Successful Candidates Must
Hold a valid Class 5 driver’s license.
Provide a clean driver’s abstract.
Be able to pass a drug and alcohol test.
Be able to pass a background check.
Adhere to the company's and site's drug and alcohol policies.
Maintain fitness for duty at all times in this safety-sensitive role.
