Overview

Kamehameha Schools is hiring a Preschool Teacher for the East Oahu Preschool Region. This is a regular, full‑time lead teaching position with competitive salary and benefits. We seek leaders who build the foundational learning of our youngest students through a Hawaiian Culture‑based education.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate subject‑area competence and develop integrated, interdisciplinary instruction.
  • Maintain a growth mindset toward student learning, teaching practice, and professional development.
  • Show high self‑efficacy, hold yourself accountable for outcomes, advocate for students, and believe in their success.
  • Facilitate critical thinking and data‑driven curriculum with creative applications.
  • Serve as an innovative and creative role model and lifelong learner.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and external partners to enhance student performance.
  • Promote global competence and extend classroom impact to families and communities.
  • Invest deeply in learners’ well‑being, understanding the link between social‑emotional learning and academic achievement.
  • Design differentiated, personalized learning goals aligned to instruction and engaging high‑level cognitive activity.
Additional Faculty Responsibilities
  • Support learners’ strong foundations in world and Hawaiian history, genealogy, land stewardship, and honorable character.
  • Help develop learners’ Native Hawaiian identity through social agency, servant leadership, and excellence.
Education and Experience

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a nationally or internationally accredited institution.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s in a relevant instructional area.
  • Master’s or doctoral degree in a primary instructional area.
  • Recent experience with age‑appropriate instructional strategies (e.g., differentiated instruction, project‑based learning).
  • Technology integration skills for classroom use.
  • 5 or more years of instruction in primary area(s) of instruction.
  • Experience teaching the relevant age level(s) and subject area(s).
  • Ability to coach or support athletics and performing arts groups.
  • Music and fine arts appreciation or ability to sing/play an instrument.
  • Knowledge and sensitivity to social justice, global issues, sustainability, Hawaiian culture, and Christian values.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Thorough subject‑area knowledge and curriculum expertise.
  • Age‑appropriate instructional methods for assigned grade levels.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with students, families, colleagues, and administrators.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet varying student needs.
  • Manage small and large groups in various instructional environments.
  • Effective communication with students, parents, counselors, and administrators.
  • Organize tasks and manage time to meet deadlines.
Trades or Construction Instruction (if applicable)
  • Knowledge of carpentry tools, including motorized lifts.
  • Ability to read and follow safety instructions and instruct others.
  • Capability to work at heights above 8 feet.
