Job Summary
This position is for a lower elementary grade special education resource teacher who will support students in both a resource setting and a general education setting (pull out and push in).
ResponsibilitiesSupport students in the resource setting and in general education classrooms, plan and facilitate Individualized Education Plan (IEP) meetings, exercise independent and professional judgement in daily functions, maintain an effective work pace under pressure to meet deadlines, and collaborate effectively with others.
Minimum Qualifications- Valid Special Education license from the Hawaii Teacher Standards Board.
- Bachelor's Degree (minimum qualification for teacher, librarian or counselor positions).
- Experience in a K-12 special education classroom.
- Understanding and experience in facilitating IEP meetings.
- Strong judgement and ability to work under pressure.
- Prior experience in lower elementary special education.
- Familiarity with Hawaii teaching license acquisition process.
Upon hire, the candidate must hold a valid Hawaii teaching license or an Emergency Hire Permit. If hired without completing a Teacher’s Education Program, the candidate has a maximum of 3 years to obtain a valid Hawaii teaching license and must enroll in a program aligned with the teaching line. The candidate must demonstrate active pursuit toward meeting licensing requirements each year of employment.
Benefits- Compensation: 10‑month teachers compensated according to Bargaining Unit 05 salary schedule.

New employees can expect their first paycheck within the first three pay periods of their start date. Payday is on the 5th and 20th (or previous business day) of every month.
