The Opportunity
Parker School seeks an enthusiastic and student-centered Lower School Extended Day Program Coordinator to oversee a dynamic program that extends the school's commitment to caring for and educating children beyond the regular school day. This role combines leadership, relationship-building, and program management to provide students with a safe, welcoming, and enriching after-school experience. The ideal candidate is passionate about working with children, fostering community, and creating an environment where every student is known, valued, and nurtured.
PrimaryResponsibilities
- Coordinate and oversee the daily operation of the Lower School Extended-Day Program.
- Train, supervise, and support extended-day program staff and substitutes.
- Foster positive communication with families, faculty, and school administrators regarding student participation and well-being.
- Develop and maintain a structured extended-day environment that balances homework support, recreation, and enrichment activities.
- Manage program budgets, purchasing, and related administrative responsibilities.
- Oversee snack planning and preparation following applicable nutrition guidelines.
- Ensure compliance with applicable licensing requirements and maintain required program documentation.
- Ensure the safe supervision and dismissal of students at the conclusion of each program day.
- Experience working with elementary-age children.
- Experience leading an after-school, childcare, camp, or youth program.
- Strong organizational, communication, and supervisory skills.
- Ability to create a safe, engaging, and structured environment for students.
- Ability to meet all applicable background check and licensing requirements.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Degree in Education, Child Development, or a related field preferred.
- Knowledge of childcare licensing requirements and compliance procedures preferred.
- Half-time, school year position at 20 hours per week
- Salary Range: $27,000 to $33,000 depending on experience
- Salary and benefits for this 10-month position are spread out over 12 months
