This vacancy is with the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation at the Maui Community Correctional Center in Wailuku.
Salary: $3,606 to $4,563 per month (SR‑11, Step C to I). Hiring rates will be based on availability of funds, the applicant's qualifications, and other relevant factors.
Responsibilities- Perform highly complex library support work in a correctional facility.
- Coordinate ordering and monitor library legal and recreational materials.
- Schedule inmates for law library sessions.
- Train subordinates, volunteers, and inmate work line and supervise their work.
- Perform substantive technical/paraprofessional library support work requiring knowledge of library sciences.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

General Experience- One (1) year of clerical work experience demonstrating knowledge of spelling, arithmetic, and the ability to read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions.
- Experience performing various clerical procedures, operating office equipment, and dealing with others in a tactful and polite manner.
- Experience comparable to the Library Assistant II level.
- Two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in a correctional facility library, including circulation work, stack maintenance, processing orders for library legal and recreational materials, and scheduling inmates for library sessions.
- Knowledge and application of library terminology, practices, policies and procedures, and the organization of library materials.
- Proficiency in bibliographic description, catalog card elements, standard library tools and reference sources (e.g., Library of Congress Subject Headings, Books in Print, Reader's Guide to Periodical Literature), and classification schemes (e.g., Dewey Decimal, Library of Congress).
- At least one year of the required specialized experience must be comparable to the Library Assistant IV level.
- Demonstrated aptitude or potential for supervisory duties as evidenced by successful completion of assignments involving supervisory responsibilities.
- Experience serving as a group or team leader, or in roles with opportunities to demonstrate supervisory capabilities.
- Completion of supervisory training courses with application of supervisory skills in work assignments.
- Positive evaluations indicating possession of supervisory potential.
- Must not have engaged in sexual abuse in any correctional or similar facility.
- Must not have been convicted of sexual activity facilitated by force, threats, or coercion, or where the victim did not consent.
- Must not have been civilly or administratively adjudicated to have engaged in such activity.
- Must not have been the subject of substantiated allegations of sexual abuse or sexual harassment or resigned during a pending investigation.
- Conditionally offered employment or movement into positions may require drug screening and an intensive background check.
