Instructor, CC (Coordinator, TRIO Student Support Services)
Location:
Windward Community College, Hawaii.
Employment:
Full‑time temporary, 11‑month term beginning September 2026, may be converted to 9‑month term based on funding.
- Provide leadership, coordination, and supervision of Student Support Services, a Federal TRIO program serving low‑income, first‑generation college students and students with disabilities.
- Act as Program Coordinator and Principal Investigator: direct fiscal functions per federal guidelines, develop and manage program budget, and meet all reporting requirements.
- Lead staff: recruit, orient, train, supervise, and evaluate performance; oversee participant selection, academic needs assessment, and data‑base management.
- Design, develop, deliver, and evaluate programs to promote success and retention, incorporating instructional technology and multiple media.
- Establish and maintain a network of TRIO and federal relationships, partner with campus faculty and staff, and engage the broader community to support the target group.
- Coordinate volunteer activities and advisory council participation to enhance program strategy.
Program activities include counseling and guidance, academic skills assessment, academic tutoring, instruction in basic skills, and financial aid support for qualifying students.
Minimum Qualifications- Master’s degree in Counseling and Guidance, Counseling Psychology, College Student Personnel Services, Human Resources, Communications, or a related field; or
- Bachelor’s degree in one of the above disciplines plus at least three (3) years of related experience.
- Related fields include Education, Family Resources, Human Development, Psychology, Public Health, Rehabilitation Counseling, Social Work, Sociology, and Student Services Personnel.
- Experience providing educational services with background in designing, managing, or implementing counseling services, program management, and/or program budgeting.
- Knowledge or experience with TRIO or similar programs serving underrepresented or underserved populations.
- Administrative experience in program direction and budget management.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to build effective relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community groups from diverse backgrounds.
- Leadership and organizational skills; ability to set priorities and manage conflicting priorities.
- Experience writing funding requests, program proposals, and federal, state, and institutional reports.
- Knowledge of Section 504 of the Vocational Rehabilitation Act and ADA requirements for disability accommodations.
- Familiarity with and commitment to the mission and philosophy of the community college.
