• Supervise preliminary and final surveys.
• Design structures such as reservoirs, retaining walls, bridges, culverts, tunnels, pipelines, sewers, sidewalks, highways, etc.
• Assign subordinate engineers and inspectors to construction projects.
• Settle disputes between contractors and inspectors.
• Approve construction changes.

Equivalent to graduation from a regionally‑accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in an engineering specialty.

One year of registered professional civil engineering experience.

• Possession of an appropriate valid driver's license, as required.
• Possession of a valid license as a professional Civil Engineer in the State of Hawaii.

Applicants with a current out‑of‑state professional Civil Engineer license must obtain their Hawaii license prior to appointment.
