Registered Professional Nurse (RN/RPN) – Psychiatric Nursing
Location:
Kaneohe, HI
Pay: $87,360 to $ Annually
Schedule:
8-hour shifts; 80 regular hours per two-week schedule
Contract Positions:

Cedar Park Group is seeking Registered Professional Nurses to provide nursing services in a secure inpatient psychiatric setting serving adults with mental illness and/or dual diagnoses, including substance-use and developmental disabilities.
The RN provides holistic, safe, and effective mental-health nursing care to court-ordered forensic patients and works collaboratively with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals.
Responsibilities- Conduct thorough mental-health assessments through interviews, observations, and standardized tools to evaluate patients' emotional and psychological status.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and other professionals.
- Provide nursing services in psychiatric, forensic, or healthcare settings.
- Assist with patient admissions.
- Administer prescribed medications, monitor patient responses, and observe for side effects or adverse reactions.
- Adjust dosing or follow-up based on ongoing evaluation and in coordination with prescribers.
- Collaborate with other units, leadership, and departments.
- Attend meetings as scheduled.
- Respond to patient complaints.
- Provide individual and group therapy sessions using evidence-based approaches, including cognitive behavioral therapy and de-escalation techniques.
- Provide emotional support and counseling to patients and families and promote coping strategies for managing symptoms.
- Respond to psychiatric emergencies, including suicidal behavior or aggression, using crisis-intervention and de-escalation protocols.
- Conduct risk assessments and continuously monitor patients to promote patient and public safety.
- Serve as a liaison among patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Educate patients and families regarding mental-health conditions, treatment plans, medications, and community resources.
- Maintain current patient records, treatment plans, progress notes, and medication logs.
- Follow legal and regulatory standards concerning confidentiality, informed consent, and patient rights.
- Advocate for patient needs, including referrals to care and community services.
- Maintain continuing education regarding advances in psychiatric care.
- Provide health teaching to patients and families.
- Current RN license in Hawaii or a license accepted by the State of Hawaii.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Minimum 1 year of psychiatric inpatient hospital experience.
- Demonstrated experience and capability providing nursing services in a behavioral- health or healthcare environment.
- Ability to perform health assessments and identify dysfunction and subtle changes in patient condition.
- Proficiency with computer applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, and email.
- Ability to pass required general and psychotropic medication examinations.
- Current CPR card.
- Current annual physical examination verifying ability to perform the job.
- Current annual TB clearance.
- Annual influenza vaccination or completed declination.
- Drug-screen clearance.
- Background-check clearance.
- Valid, current State of Hawaii driver's license.
