Provides security services for students, faculty, staff, visitors and facilities at Kamehameha Schools. Responsibilities include monitoring CCTV cameras, vehicle and foot patrols of all campus property, enforcing traffic and parking regulations, providing safety and security inspection services, investigating and recording traffic, criminal and non‑criminal incidents, parking and crowd supervision, monitoring and restricting access to sacred sites and vendors, directing visitors and delivery vehicles, and keeping records of campus entries and exits.
EssentialResponsibilities
- Maintain a safe and secure environment by adhering strictly to security protocols and procedures.
- Conduct regular vehicle and foot patrols, remaining alert to unusual conditions or unauthorized personnel.
- Monitor CCTV cameras consistently, ensuring a vigilant stance toward potential risks or incidents.
- Identify potential safety and/or criminal problems and promptly report and monitor to minimize risk.
- Oversee traffic flow, parking regulations, and crowd control at school events and special functions.
- Respond promptly to emergencies, such as workplace violence, intrusions, natural disasters, fires, assaults, or other crisis situations, and pursue, apprehend, and detain individuals within jurisdictional limits using de‑escalation techniques.
- Exercise sound judgment in potentially high‑stakes situations to maintain a legally compliant and safe environment.
- Enforce entry restrictions for unauthorized persons or vehicles, manage visitor and delivery access, and keep detailed records of campus entries and exits.
- Conduct safety inspections to ensure compliance with KS security standards.
- Investigate and document traffic, on‑campus criminal, and non‑criminal incidents, providing thorough written reports.
Minimum Qualifications
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for the requirements listed.
- High School Diploma/Equivalent.
- Minimum of 1 year of related work experience.
- Valid Hawaii Driver's license and current driving abstract.
- Current DCCA Guard Employee License or ability to obtain certification within 60 days of hire.
- Current first aid, CPR and AED certification or ability to obtain certification within 6 months of hire.
- Ability to work independently and accommodate a rotational schedule, including 24/7 availability.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Good interpersonal skills for interacting with KS staff, students, parents, and the public.
- Proficiency in computer applications for word processing, spreadsheets, and email, and ability to learn, operate, and monitor CCTV systems.
- Competence in typing and computer use for detailed incident reporting.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a security, police, or emergency response role.
- Security experience within a K‑12 school environment.
- Knowledge of security‑related software and applications used in the field.
- Specialized training in crisis intervention, drone operation, defensive tactics, or similar programs.
Frequent writing, standing, walking, lifting and carrying, pushing and/or pulling objects that weigh up to 50 pounds. Occasional desk‑based computer tasks and light manipulation. Frequent twisting, bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, crawling, climbing, reaching or working above shoulder height, and grasping firmly.
Working ConditionsThe position may involve travel to various locations, including neighboring islands, within a school environment and often outdoors. Work assignments may be conducted 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Compensation and BenefitsHourly compensation range: $26.40 – $35.42 per hour.
LocationHawaii Campus – Keaau, Hawaii.
