Position:
Social Worker or Human Services Professional (III or IV Level).
Location:
Kauai Community Correctional Center and Kauai Intake Service Center, Kauai, Hawaii.
Salary:
Social Worker III: $5,107–$6,221 per month (SR-20, Step D–I). Social Worker IV: $5,527–$6,728 per month (SR-22, Step D–I).
Social Workers or Human Services Professionals at Level III provide independent assessment of client needs, develop and implement service plans, provide direct services, monitor and adjust plans. They serve clients across a full range of cases including psychosocial, medical, and environmental problems. Level IV responsibilities involve working with complex, resistant, or violent clients, using casework skills within established policies, with supervision due to case volatility.
Qualifications- Legal Authorization to Work: U.S. citizen, national, permanent resident alien, or qualified under federal law.
- Education:
- Social Worker:
Bachelor’s or master’s in social work from a Council on Social Work Education accredited program; or doctoral degree accredited by Western Association of Schools and Colleges or comparable. - Human Services Professional:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four‑year institution with a minimum of 12 semester credit hours in counseling, criminal justice, human services, psychology, social work, social welfare, sociology or related behavioral sciences.

Experience:- Social Worker (Level III): 1 year for Bachelor’s degree holders, 0 years for Master’s holders, 0 years for Ph.D. holders. (Level IV: 2 years for Bachelor’s, 2 years for Master’s, 0 years for Ph.D.)
- Human Services Professional (Level III): 1½ years;
Level IV: 2½ years.
- Other Requirements:
- Drug screening and intensive background check for conditional hires.
- PREA compliance: no history of sexual abuse or related allegations against inmates or juveniles.
- Valid driver’s license (required for some positions).
- Graduating within three months can be accepted if minimum requirements are met; submit transcript and verification letters.
