Senior Buyer
A 5th generation family organization that produces high-quality beauty products has a rare opening due to a retirement in their purchasing department. This person will manage all raw ingredients and commodity purchasing for the organization which includes chemicals, flavors, and active and inactive ingredients. Must have experience purchasing, raw ingredients, or chemicals. The Senior Buyer will manage $22+ MM in direct & indirect material spend for the corporate office. Manage sourcing strategies and process to improve cost, quality, and productivity, manage suppliers by setting, measuring, and driving performance expectations while working with cross-functional teams, and contribute to and support the realization of the organization’s strategic sourcing vision in line with overall business performance goals.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Lead sourcing efforts to identify reliable sources of supply and effectively procure materials.
- Effectively work with cross functional teams to ensure business and technical requirements are captured and facilitate cross functional evaluation of new suppliers.
- Develop deep knowledge of market trends by researching market drivers, analyzing cost structures, understanding technical improvements in industry, and evaluating the competitive landscape.
- Develop category profiles and strategies.
- Develop negotiation strategies and lead contract negotiations, oversee contract administration and compliance.
- Manage and coach buyer and facilitate development of Sourcing and Procurement skills.
- Support purchasing activities where necessary.
- Manage corrective actions for non-conforming materials.
- Work closely with Operations team to manage supplier related disruptions to timely receipt of goods
Requirements:
- BS/BA in Technical Field OR in Business, Operations, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or related field.
- 3+ years of in direct Procurement of related raw materials – chemicals, ingredients, low-volume custom specific products. Manage less than 400 SKU’s
- Negotiation experience is required.
- 2-3 years of experience with external auditing
- Industry experience in chemicals is highly desired.
- Knowledge of strategic sourcing process, market analysis, sourcing category strategy development, supplier relationship management and development of should-cost models.
- Knowledge of FSSC, API & ISO certification preferred.

- Negotiation strategy development and execution experience.
- Leadership and management skills preferred
- Ability to influence and work in cross functional teams.
- Excellent communication skills (oral and written) and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite applications (Excel, Access, Word, and Outlook).
