Low Incidence Paraprofessional Compensation Range:
Starts at $15.50/hour or $16.50/hour for self-contained positions. A comprehensive benefits package includes:

Works under supervision of the classroom teacher and other special education professionals. Carries out the educational programs developed by the special education teacher. Assists with special education students as requested by the building administrator.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Assist with classroom management and instruction, such as providing attention, direction, and assistance to students; communicating with teachers about daily plans and observations; tutoring individuals; working in small groups; implementing teacher-planned activities; encouraging appropriate behavior; assisting with behavior management programs; observing and charting academic and behavioral progress; accompanying mainstreamed students in regular classrooms; providing resources for substitutes; working with general education students and other special education students as requested.
- Assist with students outside the classroom: supervise students during free time and in corridors, lavatories, lunchroom, playground, etc.; help with field trips, school parties, club activities; escort students within the building; meet, load, and unload buses; help evacuate students during fire drills.
- Assist in classroom housekeeping: collect money and keep records; set up rooms for conferences; pass out paper and supplies; assist in setting up, operating, and maintaining equipment; care for lights, window shades, room temperature; keep classroom orderly and neat.
- Assist with clerical duties: prepare data for reporting to parents; copy information on school records; correct students' work for teacher evaluation; keep files of students' work; prepare classroom material as designed by teachers; make charts, bulletin boards, and other visual materials; prepare student lists.
- Assist with physical needs of students: toileting and diapering students ages 3‑21; help students undress for swimming; assist with lifting and positioning; feed students at lunch time; carry out prescriptive feeding programs as directed by occupational therapist; participate in signing programs and other specialized programming when required.
Education/Training:
Minimum High School Diploma.
Qualifications:
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Good oral, written, and communication skills.
