School Psychologist
Job Focus:
To provide psychological evaluation and assistance to students who require such services in their educational program.
Line of Supervision:
Responsible to and evaluated by building Principal
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assists parents and staff members in locating and coordinating school and community resources.
- Serves as a liaison between the schools and other agencies as appropriate.
- Observes individual students in educational settings as appropriate.
- Identifies the special needs of students through consultation, observation, and other psychological and educational assessments.
- Collaborates as needed with teachers, principals, and other school personnel to develop plans that modify the behavior of disruptive students.
- Analyzes, integrates and reports psychological and educational information about students behavior and the conditions relating to their learning.
- Consults with teachers and other staff members in planning, implementing, and evaluating school programs and interventions to meet the identified psychological and educational needs of students.
- Participates in the prevention of educational and behavioral problems through early identification and consultation.
- Conducts individual and group counseling sessions as needed in order to facilitate the students social/emotional development.
- Prepares, assembles, and/or disseminates materials and reports as needed for Medicare reimbursement of at-risk and special education students.
- Provides leadership at staff meetings in developing behavior management plans and functional analysis of behavior.
- Assists in case management activities as necessary.
- Provides information, support, and counseling to parents and families when appropriate.
- Attends and participates in special education parent meetings as requested.
- Guards the confidentiality of all information placed in charge of this office. Breach of this trust shall be grounds for dismissal.
- Performs such other duties as may be requested by the Principal, Coordinator of Special Education or Superintendent of Schools.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Has a valid certificate (type 73) as a School Psychologist issued by the Illinois State Board of Education.
- Holds an earned Masters degree from an accredited college or university.
Terms of Employment: 180 days per year. Salary and other benefits as established by the Board of Education.
