Dean of Social Emotional Learning reports to:

Position Objective:
Bring the Christopher House mission and vision to life by living and breathing the core values. Represent the social-emotional team as a member of the school administration. Continue to integrate the social-emotional team into all facets of the Christopher House experience. Use innovation and creativity to continue to enhance school culture. Promote the prioritization of the social-emotional needs of students and continue to highlight the whole child approach.
Supervise and evaluate members of the SEL team.
Administrative and Management:
- Manage, coach and mentor all members of the school social emotional team.
- Work closely with administration on the day-to-day functioning of the school.
- Support the Diverse Learners Manager in social social-emotional needs of students with IEPs.
- Participate in the IEP process when necessary.
- Work with managers in other departments at Christopher House to maximize collaboration.
- Collaborate with recess staff and their managers to develop safety protocols and procedures, and progress monitoring systems for executing safe and engaging recess programming.
- Supervise Social Workers and provide differentiated support to build their capacity.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
School Culture:
- Enhance and improve school culture by prioritizing unity and open communication between staff and administration.
- Ensure that all staff and students feel seen, heard, and appreciated.
- Constantly operate from the perspective of "what is best for children".
- Motivate staff to be contributing members of the Christopher House community.
- Enhance elementary school collaboration and integration with other departments.
Behavior Management:
- Contribute to creating an environment where scholars take pride in their actions and surroundings.
- Successfully implement the Christopher House Elementary School Code of Conduct.
- Prioritize restorative justice.
- Coordinate and participate in parent meetings when necessary.
- Ensure that staff feel prepared and supported when facing challenging student behaviors.
- Ensure accurate data collection and tracking occurs in order to properly implement MTSS and the referral process.
- Enter referrals, interventions, and incidents as necessary and required on SSM and ECM.
- Monitor compliance of all SEL data systems.
- Multi-Tiered System of Support - SEL
- In collaboration with the ILs, Lead, develop, and progress monitor MTSS protocol for SEL.
- Work closely with MTSS coordinator and Diverse Learners Manager to ensure MTSS is being provided for students with SEL needs.
- Create and help implement SEL supports for scholars of all ages.
- Ensure proper data collection is occurring.
- Collaborate with the social work team across the organization on the implementation of an SEL data collection tools, including ECM, SSM, and SABERs.
- Provide training to staff on SEL MTSS protocols and expectations.
- Social Emotional Learning
- Ensure all teachers are equipped with tools to deliver social emotional learning and support to students.
- Provide training and support to staff to reinforce SEL programs.
- Select and/or approve SEL programs to be implemented school-wide.
- Ensure programs are developmentally appropriate and engaging.
- Promote the wrap-around services that Christopher House provides to families.
- Work with family advocates to ensure children and families are receiving proper supports.
