Special Education Teacher

Job Goal:
Develop and implement an all-encompassing educational program and implement MTSS plans with innovative methods of teaching and mentoring for students that require Tier II and Tier III Interventions.

Professional

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to district policies and procedures
  • Engage in professional growth
  • Conduct parent-teacher conferences
  • Write narrative end-of-the-year progress reports
  • Participate in staff conferences
  • Maintain accurate records
  • Protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
  • Select books, equipment, and other instructional materials
  • Serve on curriculum committees
  • Provide instruction to behaviorally challenged individuals
  • Administer behavior intervention
  • Participate in behavior intervention meetings
  • Collect data and record student progress notes
  • Monitor and report student behavior
  • Communicate effectively
  • Assist in developing self-help and self-advocacy skills
  • Implement specialized student plans
  • Direct student groups
  • Assist in de-escalating student behaviors
  • Implement classroom management systems
  • Follow Board policies and contractual obligations
  • Demonstrate initiative in resolving issues
  • Inform school administrators of student behaviors
  • Exercise respect and collaboration
  • Complete incident reports
  • Exercise confidentiality

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree required
  • Professional Educators License with LBS 1 endorsement required

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be physically able to operate a motor vehicle
  • Must be able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally

Working Conditions and Environment:

  • Work is routinely performed in a typical interior/office environment
