Aqua is an Essential Utilities company offering a rewarding career in water and wastewater services across eight states. We seek a Construction Coordinator who will coordinate and oversee capital projects from construction to acceptance.
Salary Range: $72,000 – $90,000.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES- Collaborates with operations and engineering in developing, implementing and monitoring annual capital improvement plans that identify and prioritize capital projects.
- Assists in developing annual capital budgets, evaluating alternatives, designs, cost estimates and project schedules.
- Oversees construction activities to meet budget, scope and timelines, ensuring financial, compliance and operational objectives are met, including site visits.
- Coordinates construction phases with staff, outside contractors and suppliers, ensuring operational needs are addressed.
- Assists engineering in preparing permit applications covering land development, zoning, construction and environmental approvals at local, state and sometimes federal levels.
- Meets with public officials and regulatory agencies to obtain project permits and authorizations.
- Engages homeowners to promote and construct water main extensions and resolve construction‑related complaints.
- Manages procurement and construction, reviewing and approving contractor payment applications.
- Oversees construction inspectors for multiple concurrent projects.
- Represents the company at state and local levels.
- Establishes and maintains positive public relations with key customers, officials and industry groups.
- Assists in developing and implementing state/regional engineering‑related policies and maintaining standard designs and material specifications.
- Reviews construction plans for commercial fire, backflow devices and other customer services, coordinating service installation.
- Provides design information to engineering and helps prepare designs when required.
- Reviews designs for compliance with state, local and company requirements.
- Prepares cost estimates for construction projects.
- Closes projects and updates water system maps, records and electronic data, including GIS, AIMS and Maintenance Connection.
- Acts as Division Field Supervisor in absence of the Field Supervisor to manage daily field operations.
- Promotes a safety culture, addressing safety issues and adjusting project timelines to ensure safe working conditions.
- Assists with other tasks or projects as assigned.
- Associate degree in Civil Engineering or related field (preferred).
- Minimum of five years of construction experience, including cost estimating, bidding, contract documentation, construction progress monitoring and payments, change‑order negotiation, inspection, safety practice monitoring and contract closeout.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Proficiency with personal computers, especially Microsoft Office and databases.
- Experience with AutoCAD, GIS and Water
GEMS (desired). - Excellent written and verbal communication skills, communicating clearly, concisely and professionally with internal customers.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure.
- Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and adapt to changing priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
- Team player capable of effective collaboration in a multitasking environment.
- May be exposed to extreme temperatures, noise, wet/humid conditions, mechanical, electrical, gas hazards, fumes, dust, mists, gases and poor ventilation.
- Work involves travel to Essential Utilities and other constituents' sites.
- Travel requirements up to 75%; overnight stays typically not required but possible.
- Must be available on call for emergencies and after‑hours events.
