Overview
Riverside Healthcare is seeking a skilled and dedicated Ultrasound Technologist to join our team in Kankakee, Illinois. The Ultrasound Technologist will perform diagnostic ultrasound imaging procedures to assist in evaluating and diagnosing various medical conditions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in ultrasound technology, demonstrate proficiency in imaging techniques, and ensure patient comfort and safety. A commitment to ongoing education and adherence to safety protocols is essential.
Demonstrates flexibility with assignments within professional scope/duties/licensure.
- Perform a variety of ultrasound procedures, including abdominal, pelvic, obstetric, and vascular imaging, using advanced ultrasound equipment.
- Capture high-quality images and video recordings of anatomical structures. Evaluate images for technical quality, manipulate display parameters, and provide hard copy records of procedures.
- Practice aseptic technique when necessary.
- Participate in quality control duties and department quality improvement activities.
- Maintain records of equipment and quality control procedures, including cleaning and maintaining.
- Operate and maintain ultrasound equipment, perform routine checks, and report any equipment malfunctions. Provide input for equipment purchases and supply decisions.
- Maintain accurate records of patient information, imaging procedures, and equipment usage.
- Ensure proper storage of digitized images and assist in maintaining inventory and purchasing supplies.
- Verify informed consent for and assist radiologists and licensed physicians with interventional procedures.
- Corroborate patients’ clinical history with the procedures.
- Prepare and position patients for ultrasound exams, explaining procedures and addressing any concerns to ensure patient comfort and cooperation.
- Immobilize patients as required for the appropriate examination, applying principles of Ultrasound safety to minimize risk.
- Apply principles of ultrasonography to minimize risk to patients, staff, and yourself.
- Adhere to infection control practices and ensure proper handling of specimens.
- Assist with scheduling patients, transcribing orders, and managing patient records.
- Attend monthly department meetings and participate in the department's quality assessment and improvement plan.
- Assist in the training and supervision of new ultrasound technologists or students, providing practical instructions.
- Demonstrated competency in ultrasonographic procedures and medical imaging technology.
- Experience in maintaining additional education in ultrasonic anatomy is preferred.
- Proficiency in operating ultrasound equipment, excellent patient communication skills, and the ability to work effectively as part of a healthcare team.
- Strong commitment to patient-centered care, safety protocols, and aseptic techniques.
- Graduate of an accredited diagnostic sonography program or successful completion of 9 months in an accredited program as indicated in a statement from the last clinical site and program director and expected to graduate within 6 months.
- Registry eligible by successful completion of the Physics registry or ARRT (S) or ARDMS registration. Registry applicants must achieve ARRT (S) or ARDMS registration within 24 months of hire. Successful completion of one other registry (AB, AE, , FE, MSK, NE, OB, PE, PS, PVI, or VT) within 18 months of hire is required.

Direct contact with patients and have potential of normal exposure to airborne pathogens.

Needed for communication with patients for education, pre-procedure history information, procedure manipulation, and post-procedure instructions. - Vision:
