This is a contract job opportunity with potential for perm.

Location:

Float covering Joliet, IL, Makena, IL, Marionette Park, IL, Palos Park, IL, Oak Brook, Tenley Park, IL, Chicago, IL, Evanston, IL, and Waukegan, IL.

Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.

Schedule:

Candidates will need to be available to work 6AM to 7:30 PM depending on location they are covering. Will also need to be available for Saturday hours from 8AM to 12PM.

Projected duration: 3 months + potential for perm.

Pay range $21.10- $23.10.

Summary

The primary role of a phlebotomist entails aiding in the execution of different assigned tasks, addressing issues, offering training, and suggesting work process enhancements.

Position Responsibilities

Experience performing blood collections, labeling samples, spinning specimens, maintaining records and decontaminating equipment, updating patient records, etc. Gathering and organizing specimens following established protocols. Clearly and courteously explaining the venipuncture process (blood drawing) or other specimen collection procedures (e.g., urine or fecal). Demonstrating proper techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles. Thoroughly understanding all physician instructions. Matching lab forms with specimen tubes.

Labeling, spinning, dividing, and freezing specimens based on test orders. Double-checking all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts for accuracy. Packaging specimens for transportation. Storing specimen samples at the correct temperature, placing them in suitable containers/tubes, labeling accurately, and following specified procedures for transport to maintain sample integrity. Complying with OSHA and DEP regulations. Attending annual departmental trainings. Answering phone calls, reading lab results to respond to inquiries.

Minimum Qualifications

Valid Phlebotomy certification required for the state of employment where applicable. At least 6 months of experience conducting venipunctures in a busy lab or hospital environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. High School Diploma or GED minimum 3-4 years of experience.
