Your job would be:

• To manage and be accountable for all base glass manufacturing, including batch plant, furnace, tin bath, and lehr operations. Responsible for all hot end maintenance and engineering activities.
• Direct and coordinate the Process Engineers to meet plant and departmental goals in manufacturing performance, health and safety, housekeeping, product quality, and cost control.
• Coordinate all the department's scheduling and maintenance activities to ensure that the plant goals are met in terms of throughput, quality, and yield.
• To provide direction, leadership, and support to the supervisors within the Glassmaking and hot end maintenance departments through constant goal setting and performance evaluation.
• Develop and maintain departmental safety rules and safe work practices ensuring that each employee works in a safe environment. Enforce safety rules and work practices within each department and conduct appropriate safety training.
• Manage departmental expenses to meet budgets. Work with department employees to create cost reduction projects.
• Review and monitor departmental equipment and supplies to ensure they are available and in proper working order. Develop and maintain the department's capital projects.
• Develop lines of communication with production and scheduling, enabling development of warehousing plans that will meet product mix requirements for warehousing.
• Work with shift managers on all day-to-day responsibilities and other area managers regarding plant-wide issues.
• Work with departmental hourly employees to improve work procedures and enhance productivity.
• Work with plant staff members regarding production, finance, human resources, quality, and cutting issues.

Qualifications

Required:

• BS degree in Ceramic, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, or related field required.
• 5-10 years experience in Glassmaking.
• Minimum five years of Supervisory & Managerial experience.
