Job DescriptionFront End Mechanic
- Troubleshooting, preventive maintenance and repair of equipment.
- Designing, fabrication and welding of guarding equipment in steel, stainless and aluminum.
- Fabrication and installation of plumbing (plastic, threaded and welded).
- Installing complex machinery and equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, and other drawings, using hoists, lift trucks, hand tools, and power tools.
- Reading blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
Kankakee, Illinois. The plant manufactures 12 oz. beverage cans and will expand to other sizes for top consumer product companies.

Skills and Abilities
- Strong understanding of angles and use of advanced measuring tools, including lasers.
- Thorough knowledge of all types of hand tools and fabrication tools.
- Ability to dismantle and reassemble production equipment that needs replacement or repair.
- Understanding of mass conveying and related machinery and drives.
- Ability to read and comprehend complex instructional books and manuals.
- Experience working on defective parts of machines, calibrating and adjusting clearances and alignment.
- Ability to connect power units or steam piping to equipment and test operation.
- Experience constructing foundations for machines using wood, cement, and steel.
- Minimum of five years recent experience as a journey level millwright in a manufacturing operation.
- High School diploma or GED; trade school certificate or diploma a plus.
- Welding, fabrication, general machine assembly and alignment experience; TIG, MIG and/or STICK welding experience is a plus.
- Experience in hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Forklift and scissors lift experience highly preferred.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
- Willingness to work any shift, including 12‑hour shifts, evenings, days, and overtime.
- Willingness and ability to work at heights and climb stairs.
- Ability to work in an environment with extreme heat or cold.
- Ability and willingness to lift up to 50 pounds and stand on concrete for the duration of the shift.
