Overview
Riverside Healthcare is seeking a skilled and dedicated Team Leader Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Procedural Care and IRU Department in Kankakee, Illinois. This leadership role involves overseeing daily operations in the surgical unit while providing high-quality, compassionate care to patients undergoing various medical and surgical treatments. Essential Duties- Patient Assessment and Care Planning:
Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients physical, emotional, and psychological needs. Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with patients, families, and the healthcare team. - Treatment Administration:
Administer medications, treatments, and procedures as ordered by the provider. Monitor patient responses to treatments, adjusting care plans as necessary to ensure optimal outcomes. - Patient Monitoring:
Continuously monitor vital signs, physical condition, and responses to interventions. Document all observations and changes in patient status accurately and promptly. - Leadership and Mentorship:
Lead and mentor a team of perioperative nurses and support staff, fostering a collaborative environment to deliver exceptional patient care. Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing education and training for nursing staff. - Coordination of Care:
Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care activities, including pre-operative assessments, intra-operative management, and post-operative follow-up. Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and contribute to discharge planning. - Documentation and Compliance:
Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes, ensuring compliance with all regulatory and hospital standards. - Patient
Education and Experience:
Educate patients and their families about medical conditions, treatment options, and post-discharge care. Engage with patients to promote comfort and understanding, addressing concerns with empathy and professionalism. - Quality Improvement and Protocol Development:
Develop, implement, and evaluate nursing protocols and policies to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards. Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives. - Emergency Response:
Respond to medical emergencies with quick and effective interventions, including performing life-saving procedures and stabilizing patients as needed. - Infection Control:
Adhere to infection control protocols and ensure a clean and safe environment for patients and staff, implementing standard precautions to prevent the spread of infections. - Flexibility:
Demonstrate flexibility with assignments within professional scope, duties, and licensure while contributing to a positive and collaborative work environment. Offer constructive feedback and engage in open communication to promote teamwork and mutual respect.
- Assist with the recruitment and onboarding of new nursing staff.
- Support the management in budget preparation and resource allocation.
- Engage in community outreach and education programs as needed.
- Participate in research and evidence-based practice initiatives within the department.
Preferred Experience:
Background in surgical care preferred.
- Current Illinois RN registration
- Current CPR
- ACLS & PALS certification or within 3 months of hire
- Master s degree in Nursing preferred.
