Role snapshot
Join our Kankakee, IL team on a Monday–Friday, first-shift schedule to keep a school bus fleet safe, compliant, and road-ready. You’ll handle everything from basic maintenance to full rebuilds — and you’ll be the go-to for electrical, HVAC, and accessibility systems.
What you’ll do Service and repair gasoline/diesel buses: routine maintenance, minor fixes, and complete vehicle service.
Diagnose faults and run a disciplined preventive maintenance program.
Perform engine and transmission overhauls (major/minor).Maintain/repair brakes, air compressors, fuel & ignition systems, HVAC, and wheelchair lifts.
Service vehicle A/C systems and execute DOT-compliant inspections and repairs on school buses.
Record time and materials for all work performed.
Preferred background
Medium-duty bus expertise;
International Truck/Bus experience a plus.
Bring your own tools.
Knowledge of pupil transportation regulations and IDOT inspections.
CDL Class B with air brake endorsement preferred.
A/C Certification preferred.
Strong verbal/written communication for internal and external stakeholders.
Proven under deadline pressure; positive, customer-first mindset.
Independent worker who completes assignments on time.

Schedule:
First Shift, Monday–Friday Compensation: $30–$40 per hour Physical requirements (verbatim)

Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance as attendance is an essential function of the position
Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone
Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs
