Position OverviewAs a Family Mentor and Support, you will work closely with children, their parents, and caregivers to provide direct mentorship, skill‑building, and support. This position is focused on two primary functions: mentoring children and supporting families.
Key Responsibilities- Develop Tailored Lesson Plans:
Create structured, individualized lesson plans for children, addressing areas such as emotional regulation, social skills, and behavioral development. - Conduct Mentoring Sessions:
Provide one‑on‑one mentoring to children in their home, in the community, or via telehealth, ensuring a supportive and structured environment. - Behavioral Support:
Work with children to develop coping strategies, enhance problem‑solving skills, and encourage positive behavioral changes. - Progress Monitoring:
Document session details, track behavioral progress, and adjust strategies based on observed needs and challenges. - Family
Collaboration:
Regularly communicate with families to ensure consistency between mentoring sessions and at‑home support strategies. - Family Support (Mornings, afternoons, and weekends as needed)
- Provide Guidance and Advocacy:
Assist parents and caregivers in understanding and managing their child’s emotional and behavioral challenges, offering practical strategies and emotional support. - Resource Navigation:
Help families access relevant resources, such as mental health services, educational support, and community services. - Crisis Intervention:
Support families during crisis situations, offering guidance on stress management and emotional regulation techniques. - Collaborate with Care Coordinators:
Work closely with care coordinators and other professionals to ensure comprehensive care for the family and effective service delivery. - Flexible Session Scheduling:
Family support sessions will primarily take place in the mornings, afternoons, and occasional weekends to accommodate parents' schedules. - Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of all family interactions, ensuring that progress, challenges, and outcomes are documented clearly and timely.
- At least 1 year of experience working with children, adolescents, or families, particularly in contexts involving behavioral or emotional challenges.
- The ability to connect with children and families, fostering trust and creating a supportive, engaging environment.
- Ability to think creatively and adjust strategies based on each child’s and family's unique needs.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with children, parents, and colleagues.
- Comfortable working as part of a multidisciplinary team, collaborating with care coordinators and other service providers to deliver comprehensive support.
- A valid driver’s license, valid auto insurance, and reliable transportation to travel to client locations.
- A minimum of a High School Diploma required.
- Candidates must be 21 years of age or older.
