Company Overview:

Our client is a private equity-backed, national business services platform that is executing an aggressive acquisition strategy and investing heavily in building a scalable finance organization. Backed by an experienced sponsor and with multiple acquisitions already completed, the company is entering its next phase of growth and is seeking a Corporate Controller to help build the accounting infrastructure that will support that expansion.

Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, this is the senior-most accounting position within the organization. The Corporate Controller will serve as a strategic business partner to the CFO while leading technical accounting, financial reporting, acquisition integration, internal controls, and accounting operations across a growing multi-entity platform. This position also offers a direct growth pathway to a VP of Finance position as the company continues to grow and scale while developing the team around them.

This is an outstanding opportunity for a hands-on accounting leader who enjoys building processes, leading teams, partnering on acquisitions, and helping shape the future of a high-growth organization.

Position Summary:

The Corporate Controller will own the company’s accounting function, ensuring accurate financial reporting, efficient close processes, strong internal controls, and successful financial integration of acquired businesses. This individual will play a critical role in supporting continued growth through acquisitions while helping modernize finance processes, leverage technology, and build a scalable accounting organization.

The ideal candidate combines deep technical accounting knowledge with a builder’s mindset and enjoys operating in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment where they can influence both strategy and execution.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead all corporate accounting operations, including the monthly close, financial reporting, and multi-entity consolidations.
  • Oversee purchase accounting for acquisitions, including opening balance sheets, goodwill, intangible assets, and post-close accounting.
  • Lead the financial integration of acquired businesses, including chart of accounts alignment, accounting policy standardization, ERP integration, and process improvements.
  • Develop and maintain technical accounting policies while ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP and evolving business requirements.
  • Establish scalable internal controls, accounting procedures, and documentation to support continued organizational growth.
  • Partner closely with the CFO on acquisition due diligence, quality of earnings support, lender reporting, and strategic finance initiatives.
  • Own the finance administration of the company’s Net Suite environment while identifying opportunities for automation, workflow improvements, and AI-enabled efficiencies.
  • Manage treasury operations, including banking relationships, payment controls, cash application, and related accounting activities.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team while fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
  • Serve as a trusted business partner across finance, operations, executive leadership, and external advisors.
Desired Qualifications & Background:
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience with at least three years in a Controller, Assistant Controller, or similar accounting leadership role.
  • CPA preferred but not required
  • Strong technical accounting background, including hands-on purchase accounting (ASC 805) and post-acquisition financial integration.
  • Demonstrated success building accounting processes, strengthening internal controls, and improving close efficiency.
  • Prior experience within a private equity-backed, acquisitive, or other high-growth environment strongly preferred.
  • Experience with Net Suite or comparable mid-market ERP systems.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and business partnering skills with the ability to operate in a hands-on environment.
