Job Title:

IT Director – Laboratory Information Systems

Company:
Beacon point Labs

Location:

Kannapolis, North Caorlina

About Us

Beacon point Labs was built out of necessity.

The company was originally created to support its sister company, WISEcode, which set out to build the most comprehensive food and ingredient intelligence platform in the market. In pursuing that goal, it became clear that the required testing capabilities simply did not exist. No laboratory could reliably deliver the breadth, depth, speed, and transparency needed to analyze thousands of ingredients across hundreds of analytes with confidence.

Rather than compromise, Beacon point was built to solve that problem properly.

Significant resources were invested in new and high-end analytical instrumentation, rigorous method development, and the recruitment of an elite scientific team. Beacon point concentrates deep scientific expertise in a single, purpose-built operation where method development, execution, and accountability live side by side—rather than being fragmented across layers of infrastructure. This model enables direct communication, clear ownership, and defensible results.

As Beacon point opened its offerings to the industry at the beginning of 2024, leading food and supplement brands began selecting the company as a primary testing partner, owing to its rapid response times and ability to customize offerings. Beacon point is intentionally designed to serve brands with meaningful, recurring testing needs—typically $100,000 to $1 million annually—where expectations are high and partnership matters.

The lab supports complex, high-value testing today and was built with the depth and resilience to support significant expansion.

About the Role

Beacon point Labs is building a laboratory infrastructure designed for depth, speed, transparency, and scale. Information systems are central to that mission. The IT Director – Laboratory Information Systems will architect, lead, and continuously evolve the informatics foundation that underpins every aspect of laboratory operations—from instrument data capture to client reporting, operational visibility, and long-term scalability.

This is not a traditional IT management role focused primarily on oversight or vendor coordination. This role carries full ownership of Beacon point’s informatics environment and requires a leader who is equally comfortable defining systems architecture and personally implementing critical components.

As the senior-most informatics leader, you will operate with end-to-end responsibility for the laboratory’s digital backbone. This includes hands-on configuration, integration, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of the systems that support laboratory operations. Over time, you will help scale the function appropriately, but success in this role begins with direct ownership and execution.

You will work closely with scientific leadership, operations, and executive leadership to ensure Beacon point’s informatics infrastructure is robust, scalable, and aligned with the company’s long‑term growth.

This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in building systems properly, enjoys working close to the technical foundation, and wants to directly shape the informatics architecture of a growing laboratory platform.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary owner and technical authority for Beacon point’s LIMS platform, ensuring it functions as the central operating system of the laboratory
  • Design, configure, and continuously optimize workflows including sample accessioning, chain of custody, testing workflows, results review, and Certificate of Analysis (COA) generation
  • Ensure seamless interoperability between LIMS, client portal, billing systems, and internal operational tools
  • Maintain validated system configurations consistent with ISO/IEC 17025 and applicable regulatory requirements
  • Establish scalable architecture capable of supporting significant growth in testing volume, complexity, and client base
Instrument Integration & Scientific Data Infrastructure
  • Architect, implement, and maintain direct integration between analytical instruments and laboratory information systems,…
