Description:

This employee will perform as a bus driver, safely transporting students from home to school and back, on field trips, and performing a variety of clerical duties associated with Transportation operations.

Job Summary:
  • Maintain route schedule
  • Supervise students who ride the bus; maintain discipline and report undisciplined students to the principal/s
  • Discharge students only at authorized stops and transport only authorized students
  • Assist student passengers with school baggage as needed
  • Regulate heating and ventilating systems for passenger comfort
  • Comply with local traffic regulations and observe all mandatory safety regulations
  • Report delays or accidents
  • Clean the interior of the bus regularly
  • Inspect bus and check gas, oil, water, brakes, etc., before departure and report any needed repairs
  • Qualifications:
  • General knowledge of routine maintenance requirements of buses
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision once the job and route are learned
  • Be at least 18 years of age with at least six (6) months driving experience with a valid operator's license
  • Possess a valid driver's license
  • Have or obtain the required Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with "P" and "S" endorsements
  • Have no STOP entry appearing on driving record
  • Have and maintain a good driving record
  • Working Conditions:

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; use feet and legs to operate vehicle pedals; drive/ride the vehicle; and talk or hear. The employee must have full range of vision. On occasion, the employee is required to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, taste, or smell.
