Accounting Assistant

Position: Accounting Assistant 1
Description

We are looking for a Collections Specialist to support a growing team in Kansas City, Kansas area. This is a Long-term Contract position that requires working onsite five days each week and offers the potential for continued opportunity based on performance. The person in this role will help maintain accurate financial records, follow up on outstanding balances, and contribute to day-to-day accounting operations with a strong focus on organization and professionalism.

Responsibilities:

- Manage outbound collections efforts by contacting customers regarding past-due balances and documenting follow-up activity accurately.

- Apply payments, reconcile account details, and help maintain current and accurate accounts receivable records.

- Review customer accounts to identify overdue items, resolve discrepancies, and support timely payment processing.

- Assist with routine accounting tasks, including record updates, report preparation, and financial data entry.

- Coordinate with internal teams to research billing questions and support effective resolution of account issues.

- Monitor aging reports and prioritize collection activity to improve recovery of outstanding receivables.

- Support onsite administrative and accounting operations while maintaining confidentiality and attention to detail

Requirements - Experience in accounts receivable, collections, or related accounting support work.

- Ability to communicate professionally when following up on outstanding invoices and payment status.

- Working knowledge of general accounting functions and financial record maintenance.

- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple open items and deadlines.

- Comfort working in an onsite environment five days per week in Kansas City, Kansas.

- Proficiency with business systems or accounting platforms such as SAP Fieldglass is a plus.

- Analytical ability to review account details, identify inconsistencies, and support resolution efforts.
