Overview

Are you an experienced accounting professional looking to make an impact beyond the month‑end close? Tutera Senior Living & Health Care is seeking a Supervising Senior Accountant – Financial Compliance to join our Corporate Finance team. Reporting directly to the Director of Financial Compliance, this position plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of the Company's financial operations.

The Supervising Senior Accountant will partner with operational and corporate teams to support audits, Medicare and Medicaid cost reporting, internal controls, treasury activities, landlord accounting, and regulatory compliance while driving process improvements that strengthen the overall accounting function. The Supervising Senior Accountant will oversee and supervise the work of the senior associate and experienced associate on the financial compliance.

What Will You Do in This Role?
  • Prepare and review month‑end journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial analyses to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Support the annual financial statement audit by preparing schedules, coordinating audit requests, and serving as a primary liaison with external auditors.
  • Assist in the preparation, review, and coordination of Medicare and Medicaid cost reports and other regulatory filings.
  • Supervise and detail review month‑end journal entries, account reconciliations, audit schedules, cost report schedules, and bed tax calculations prepared by associates and senior associates.
  • Provide feedback and evaluations for staff and senior associates reporting up to the supervising senior position
  • Monitor compliance with GAAP, company accounting policies, and regulatory requirements across multiple entities.
  • Assist in designing, documenting, and maintaining effective internal controls to safeguard company assets and improve financial reporting accuracy.
  • Identify accounting risks, recommend corrective actions, and help implement process improvements that strengthen compliance and reduce close timelines.
  • Support landlord accounting and treasury functions, including cash management, balance sheet reconciliations, and related compliance activities.
  • Participate in onboarding new managed communities, acquisitions, and receivership properties by ensuring accounting processes and financial compliance standards are established.
  • Analyze financial information and investigate variances to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for accounting policies, procedures, and compliance processes.
  • Partner with Accounting, Operations, Treasury, Accounts Payable, and other departments to improve financial processes and ensure consistent application of accounting policies.
  • Assist with special projects, system implementations, and other initiatives supporting the Corporate Finance organization.
What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
  • 4–6 years of progressive accounting experience required.
  • Public accounting experience, preferably in audit, strongly preferred.
  • Healthcare, senior living, or multi‑entity accounting experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting.
  • Experience supporting external audits and regulatory compliance.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required.
  • Experience with ERP/accounting systems (Sage Intacct experience is a plus).
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.
  • Passion for continuous improvement and creating more efficient accounting processes.
