Location:
Kansas City Region. Salary: $85,000 – $120,000, depending on experience. Plus other Bonuses and Perks. Annual Bonus of up to 10% of your salary. Our Client is seeking a positive, highly self-motivated individual with strong communication and problem-solving skills to join our growing Structures Division as a Project Manager/Estimator
.
We are seeking an experienced Estimator with a strong background in heavy highway, bridge, and railroad construction. This role is focused exclusively on identifying bid opportunities, preparing accurate estimates, and supporting the preconstruction process from initial takeoff through bid submission.
Key Responsibilities- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and prepare accurate project estimates
- Identify bid opportunities and prepare competitive bids
- Solicit, review, and analyze vendor and subcontractor quotes
- Review and interpret plans and specifications for relevant bids
- Prepare proposals and pricing packages for client submission
- Coordinate with third-party engineers during the preconstruction and design phase, as needed
- Utilize estimating software to develop pricing and bid strategies
- Support internal teams with estimating data and cost analysis
- Ensure all estimates align with company policies, procedures, and safety requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience in heavy highway, bridge construction, and/or railroad projects
- Proven ability to read and interpret engineer-approved plans and specifications
- Experience with estimating software;
HCSS Heavy Bid strongly preferred - Experience working with accounting software and understanding job cost structures
- Strong understanding of heavy equipment including cranes, excavators, pile drivers, and other equipment commonly used for shoring installation
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with internal teams
- Basic computer proficiency (smartphone, laptop, estimating and reporting tools)
- Valid Drivers License with a favorable driving record
- Ability to obtain E-Rail Safe clearance
- Demonstrated commitment to safety policies, procedures, and regulatory compliance
