JOB SUMMARY
  • Prepare complete estimates for assigned projects.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management (or similar field) or equivalent combination of technical training and/or experience.
  • 2+ years of experience estimating in construction.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management or related field is preferred.
  • Familiarity with ACCUBID is preferred.
KEY SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
  • Requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize and complete projects on schedule and on budget.
  • Advanced knowledge and skills in the use of various software applications including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Advanced knowledge of estimating techniques and cost control, and the ability to interpret computerized cost data and systems is essential.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Review and incorporate historical data from purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports, etc. into unit and manhour figures.
  • Review proposal specifications, drawings, attend pre-bid meetings, etc. to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.
  • Prepare estimates by calculating complete takeoff of scope of work.
  • Coordinate total estimating effort relevant to particular bid/project as assigned.
  • Contact vendors for up-to-date pricing and conduct competitive pricing analysis as needed.
  • Maintain files of working documents as back-up for estimates and figures.
  • Interface with owner(s) and other contractors to provide engineering and cost data regarding project feasibility.
  • Follow awarded contracts as assigned; may include estimating extra work items, change orders, credits, procuring material, etc.
  • This position is required to drive.
  • Perform other tasks and special projects as assigned.

* PLEASE NOTE:

this position will be full-time on-site (not hybrid or remote). This position is based out of our headquarters in Kansas City, KS and may spend time at both our main office and jobsites in the Kansas City metro area.
