The University of Kansas Health System, Department of Internal Medicine, is seeking an Obesity Medicine Physician to join its expanding academic team. This physician will provide comprehensive, evidence-based obesity care within an academic environment that integrates clinical excellence, teaching, research, and quality improvement.
The ideal candidate will be passionate about recognizing obesity as a chronic, complex disease and committed to delivering comprehensive, longitudinal care for patients with obesity and related metabolic conditions. This physician will emphasize a multifaceted treatment approach that includes lifestyle modification, behavioral interventions, pharmacotherapy, and when appropriate, surgical management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive evaluations of patients with obesity and associated metabolic disorders
- Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based treatment plans
- Provide ongoing longitudinal management and follow-up care
- Diagnose and manage obesity-related comorbidities (e.g., diabetes, hypertension, dyslipidemia, NAFLD)
- Prescribe and manage anti-obesity pharmacotherapy as appropriate
- Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team, including dietitians, behavioral health specialists, exercise professionals, and bariatric surgeons
- Educate patients on disease processes, treatment options, and long-term management strategies
Required:
- MD/DO
- Board-Eligible/ Board-Certified in Obesity Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Family Medicine.
- Licensed in Missouri and Kansas
