SUMMARY
The Title III Project Peer Tutor will provide one-on-one and small group tutoring to eligible students to improve academic performance and retention. Peer Tutors work closely with the Title III Project Tutor Coordinator and faculty to identify students in need of academic support and deliver effective tutoring services. Open Positions:

POSITION DESCRIPTION
We are seeking a dedicated tutor to provide individualized and small group support in core subjects, including mathematics, English, science, and social studies.
Key responsibilities include:
* Tutoring:
Deliver personalized instruction to students in core academic subjects.
* Student Outreach:
Collaborate with the Title III Project Tutor Coordinator to identify and engage students who would benefit from tutoring services.
* Collaboration:
Work closely with faculty to understand course content and learning objectives, ensuring effective support for student needs.
* Record Keeping:
Maintain detailed records of tutoring sessions, student progress, and relevant data.
* Training:
Participate in mandatory training sessions to enhance tutoring skills and strategies.
* Assessment Support:
Assist in administering student assessments and surveys as needed.
* Scheduling:
Manage and communicate available tutoring hours to eligible students.
* Promotion:
Actively promote the tutoring program to encourage student participation.
* Additional Duties:
Perform other tasks as assigned by the Title III Project Tutor Coordinator, Project Director, or Principal Investigator.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
These are essential for the Title III Project Peer Tutors to effectively provide academic support, identify and reach out to students in need, maintain detailed records, and contribute to the overall goals of the Title III Grant program:
* Strong understanding of core academic subjects such as mathematics, English, science, and social studies.
* Familiarity with effective tutoring methods and learning strategies.
* Knowledge of the Title III grant program and its objectives.
* Understanding of the specific needs and challenges of the target student population.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with and support students.
* Strong tutoring and teaching skills to provide individualized and small group instruction.
* Proficient in relevant subject areas and able to explain concepts clearly.
* Ability to collaborate with faculty and the Title III Project Tutor Coordinator.
* Strong organizational and time management skills to maintain records and schedules.
* Competent in administering assessments and surveys.
* Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
* Flexibility and adaptability to adjust tutoring approaches based on student needs.
* Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
* Empathy and patience when working with students who may be struggling academically.
* Cultural sensitivity and the ability to work effectively with various student populations.
* Enthusiasm for promoting academic success and student retention.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
* Minimum sophomore classification required, attending KCKCC.
* Must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher and be in good standing with the College
* Must have an A in the course desired to serve as a Tutor.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Minimum of one (1) year of experience tutoring or assisting students to effectively study for historically difficult course and maximize their potential for their academic success.
* Experience reviewing notes, discussing readings, developing organizational tools, and preparing for examinations with reasoning and study skills.
* Responsible for submitting attendance sheets, lesson plans, and time-sheets promptly.
