Job Description

TITLE:

Coach - Girls Assistant Coach - MS Soccer

LOCATION: Gloria Willis MS

The Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools (KCKPS) is a nationally recognized urban school district that serves approximately 22,000 students and 60+ different languages are spoken in the homes of our students. JOB GOAL

Directly responsible to the head coach of a sport. The assistant coach will be expected to exhibit total loyalty to the program, the head coach, and the other assistants at all times. The assistant coach will be required to carry out all assignments given to him by the head coach.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Assist the head coach as directed
  • Organize and direct coaching staff
  • Collect physical examination forms
  • Collect insurance release forms
  • Report injuries to school nurse
  • Take inventory and submit list of equipment needs
  • Check out and collect all equipment
  • Maintain accurate records of lost or stolen equipment
  • Provide roster of players
  • Provide the Athletic Director a list of athletes to receive awards and plan awards ceremony
  • Ensure proper team conduct on trips and during contests
  • Know all rules pertaining to sport
  • Treat injuries or attend to athletes
  • Clean and maintain equipment and uniforms
  • Organize practice sessions
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Certified teacher or must qualify for Rule 10 approval through the Kansas State High School Activities Association
COMMUNICATION / ORGANIZATION

Maintains communication with school personnel, and parents/guardians to enhance cooperative action which will meet the educational needs of students. Utilizes existing technology effectively in the performance of duties. Performs other related work as required.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and analyze and interpret general professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, general curriculum and learning theories, correspondence, and protocols. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of administrators, staff, parents, students, and the general public.
