Primarily Pioneer Career Center (PCC), however, assignments may include any KCKCC location or clinical sites as designated by the appropriate administrator.
Adjunct faculty in the Allied Health department are responsible for teaching courses such as Nursing Assistant, Medication Aide, and Medical Terminology.
Note:
this position requires didactic and clinical teaching.
This is a POOL position. Application materials for this adjunct position are accepted on an on-going basis due to increasing demand for courses in this subject area.
POSITION DESCRIPTION- Conduct all clinical sessions according to the state-approved schedule.
- Provide instruction, activities, assignments, and assessments to adequately cover all learning outcomes.
- Monitor student progress by providing feedback for in- and out-of-class work.
- Perform adequate course-level assessment according to college requirements.
- Complete and submit all KDADS-required paperwork to the CNA Coordinator by the assigned deadline.
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
- Knowledge of current curricular content and education standards.
- Knowledge of adult learning theory and methodologies.
- Demonstrated teaching and educational facilitation skills.
- Demonstrated time-management, organizational, and critical thinking skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency in basic computer skills.
- Ability to assess student performance and progress and to provide appropriate feedback.
- Ability to promote higher-order thinking and problem-solving among educational participants.

- Ability to communicate effectively with multi-cultural populations.
- Hold a current Kansas Practical Nurse License (LPN) or Kansas Registered Nurse (RN) license or current LPN/RN unencumbered license. License must not have any pending or current disciplinary actions.
- Minimum of two (2) years full-time licensed nursing experience (LPN or RN) including one of the following:
- At least 1,750 hours of that experience must be as a licensed nurse in a setting which demonstrates long-term nursing care, such as an adult care home, long term care unit of a hospital or a state institution for the intellectually or developmentally delayed OR
- Complete at least seven (7) hours professional continuing education annually in “Person Centered Care for the Adult Care Home” in the last year.
- Meet at least one of the following requirements:
- Experience supervising nurse aides OR
- Experience teaching adults OR
- Complete a course in teaching adults OR
- Complete a professional continuing education offering on supervision or adult education.
- Kansas Registered Nurse (RN) who meets the 1,750-hour work requirement
- Teaching experience in CNA or CMA classes
- Teaching experience in an open enrollment, urban community college
- Experience in learner-centered pedagogy
