HS Assistant Football Coach - Wyandotte (SY 26-27)

Location: Wyandotte High School, Kansas City, Kansas

Directly responsible to the head coach of a football program. The assistant coach will exhibit total loyalty to the program, head coach, and other assistants, and carry out all assignments given.

• Assist the head coach as directed with organizing and directing coaching staff.
• Collect physical examination forms, insurance release forms, and report injuries to the school nurse.
• Maintain equipment inventory, submit equipment needs list, check out and collect all equipment, and keep accurate records of lost or stolen equipment.
• Provide a roster of players and a list of athletes for end‑season awards planning.
• Ensure proper team conduct on trips and during contests.
• Know all rules pertaining to the sport and treat injuries or attend to athletes.
• Maintain cleaning and maintenance of equipment and uniforms.
• Organize practice sessions.

• Certified teacher or must qualify for Rule 10 approval through the Kansas State High School Activities Association.

Maintain communication with school personnel and parents/guardians to enhance cooperative action meeting educational needs of students; utilize technology effectively and perform other related work as required.

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where limited standardization exists; interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Ability to read and analyze general professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations; write reports, general curriculum and learning theories, correspondence, and protocols; present information and respond to questions from administrators, staff, parents, students, and the public.

The employee is regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk or hear; occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; occasionally push items of 50 pounds; may visit a child’s home; specific vision abilities required include close, distance, and depth perception.

Apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional program; plan and implement lessons based on objectives and needs of students; establish and maintain effective relationships with students, peers, parents, and community; speak clearly and concisely in written or oral communication.
