JOB GOALResponsible for all levels and all phases of dance/drill coaching. The head coach leads the program and ensures that tasks are completed correctly and on schedule.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Enforce all rules of the Kansas State High School Activities Association
- Supervise student athletes during all facets of participation (competition travel, meetings, practices, etc.) ensuring activities are conducted in an environment with minimal risk of injury and in keeping with district mission and policies.
- Maintain a variety of records to comply with district, conference, state, and KSHSAA requirements.
- Verify eligibility of all participants, ensuring pre‑participation physical exams, concussion forms, insurance waivers, and tax documents are completed.
- Implement practice schedules and other logistical plans while following school and district policies.
- Supervise practice sessions and maintain locker‑room security.
- Report all injuries to proper school officials and follow injury‑reporting policy.
- Support athletic trainers and carry out their recommendations regarding student safety and participation.
- Conform to established decisions and policies aligned with USD 500.
- Organize a system for uniform and equipment checkout and maintain accurate inventory.
- Inform administration of equipment needs to maintain safety and performance.
- Maintain records of evaluation procedures used in the selection process and assess student athletes to provide feedback and determine team placement.
- Attend league meetings, pre/post season coach meetings, parent orientations, recognition events, banquets, and other supporting activities.
- Develop team and individual practice regimes for students (strength, speed, agility, nutrition, injury prevention).
- Evaluate facilities and fields for potential hazards and recommend modifications to reduce injury risk.
- Oversee coaching personnel and student managers.
- Guide personnel in instructional techniques, practice organization, and supervision responsibilities.
- Assign duties to coaching personnel and prepare written evaluation for each coach at season’s end.
- Advise coaching personnel, parents, and athletes on expectations of good sportsmanship and importance of KSHSAA Rule 52.
- Monitor student athlete academic eligibility and provide intervention counseling if needed.
- Report team scores to media outlets for high school activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Building Principal or Athletic Director.
- Certified teacher or qualified for Rule 10 certification through the Kansas State High School Activities Association.
- Successful completion of a criminal background check.
- Current certification in CPR and AED.

Salary: Based on KCKPS Supplemental Pay Schedule
FLSA Status: Non‑exempt
Report To: Athletic Director or Building Administrator
Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with Board of Education policy
